Awakino Hereford Stud

Awakino Hereford Stud was founded in 2001. We purchased our first pedigree Hereford bull named Otapawa Utawai, a son of JC Catalist out of Otapawa Amethyst 46. This layed the foundation for the Awakino stud

We informed us about the Hereford breed and bought young stock from Otapawa, Craigmore, Bushy-Downs, Aweha further at the dispersal sale of Debonaire, Harbour Hills, Rangitoto and Karamu.

At the Expo in 2002 we were able to purchase the Doonbiddle Hustler son Otapawa Hacket 26 out of the all over New Zealand well known mother Otapwa Leonara 23.

In the following year his half brother Otapawa Discovery 13, again out of Leonora by Monymusk Discovery L34, came to us.

On the 14th of July 2005 we had our first bull sale with 30 hereford and angus bulls. Nearly all bulls are sold and for a good price.

The following year we had another sale and all bulls were sold with a price increase of 40%.

From 2007 we breed stock for our own purpose. Some of our bulls we sell private from the farm to breeders.
